I played three tournaments in South America in the month of May. The first two tournaments took place in Argentina. In my last blog I already wrote about the first tournament and how I won it.
The second tournament also went well for me. I was seeded number five, but had a good chance to reach another final. After a tough first round, which I won in a tight five-set match, I won my second round match 3-1 and my semifinal match 3-0, which gave me a chance to win another title. Unfortunately, due to the tough matches I had before, I was struggling with my body. For this reason, I couldn't last until the end and lost the final of the Regata Reesistencia Open 3/0. Although I lost, I am still satisfied with my performance and managed to reach another 10k final.
After a few days off and traveling to Paraguay for my last tournament in South America, I started with another tough five-set match. I didn't play well and was a bit flat with my body, which made it even harder for me. In the next round, I faced a good friend from Germany, Yannik Omlor. I could win this match 3/0. Unfortunately, he was injured, but I hope that he will recover soon. After that, I had to play again my opponent from the final in Resistencia. Since I felt a bit better physically, I could cause him some problems. After I had a bit of an advantage in the third set, I got a bit tired and could not keep up the pressure and challenge my body as much as before. That's why I lost the close third game and the last fourth game.
All in all, it was a good tour for me. I won my first 10k title and reached another final and semifinal. The season wasn't the best for me as I had to deal with some injuries and didn't do so well in some tournaments, but at least it was a good end to the season. With the great results at the end, I moved up to my highest new world ranking position #74 in the world.
I want to say a big thank you for all the support I received this year and for all the people who still help me and believe in me. A big thank you to my family who gave me great support during the injury and also a big thank you to my new mental coach who gave me a breath of fresh air at the end of the season.
Thank you very much!
