November Recap

November was full of tournaments and leagues for me. After the tournament in Switzerland and Czechia I went directly to Cairo. For the first time in Cairo, I also played the University World Championships for the first time. It was a week packed with squash. At the beginning was the single event where I was seeded as number 3/4. Before me were Moustafa Elsirity and Mostafa Asal. After a difficult 3/1 start into the tournament against Frenchman Joshua Phinera, I had to play Hong Kong, seeded 5/8. I could clearly

beat him 3/0 and played the next day

one of the best venues I have played so far. I played the number two seed Moustafa Elsirty. I played very well and fought with him until the 5th set. In the fifth set, I had to admit defeat and lost the match 3/2. The ranks 3/4 were not played and I was directly on the 3rd rank.

After the success in the singles, the team event started. Switzerland was seeded number two behind Egypt. After two good wins as a team in the group phase, we unfortunately lost the decisive group phase match against France. Unfortunately, I had to admit defeat unexpectedly at position 1, which ultimately cost us the victory in part. So we met Egypt again in the semifinals. At number one, I played Moustafa Elsirty again and this time, I had to give in to him with a tight 3/1. On the women's position, my team mate Cindy Merlo, who also won a good bronze medal in the singles, had to admit defeat. So we lost the semifinals and were again directly on the 3rd place. In the end we won 3 bronze medals for Switzerland which was a first.

Directly after Egypt, I had to go to London for the London Open. Due to an injury, which I got at the end in Egypt, I could not really play well and was defeated already in the first round and had to fly back home. After a good week of trying to recover from my injury, I went on to Cognac for the last PSA tournament of the season. Seeded second, I wanted to reach the final, but I had to realize that I was not quite able to play to my full potential. I could win my first round with 3/1, but in the quarter-finals, I was defeated by Toufik Melkhalfi with 3/1. So the tournament was not really good and my injury did not get better.

I tried to play the necessary league matches, but I had to realize that it was useless to continue playing. So now I concentrate on my full regeneration and hope for better results next year.
