This year, the 2022 World Games were held in Birmingham Alabama. I was allowed to travel as part of the Swiss delegation and was there from 12.7 to 17.7.
The first round was for me on Wednesday afternoon against the unseeded player from Hong Kong Lam Yat Ting. Up to the quarterfinals, the matches were played in best-of-three format and from the semifinals onwards best-of-five format. The first round was not easy for me as I was behind one to zero and had to fend off match points before I could win the match 2/1.
The following day, I had to play the eventual winner Victor Crouin from France who is currently ranked no. 18 in the world. Unfortunately, I was helpless against him and lost clearly 2/0. Unfortunately, the remaining places were not played and the tournament was over for me.
On the next days, I could train a bit, watch other sports and cheer for my other teammates.
All in all it was a very interesting and special event for me with some new experiences and with many new insights into other sports.
